Carbon nano tubes and Cardon Dots for ImagingCromoz is developing innovative techniques to conjugate cancer therapeutic agents to the carbon nanotubes and carbon quantum dots. This will provide the researchers at Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical companies with a vehicle for target drug delivery. The primary objective of the drug delivery tool is to reduce the amount of drug used during chemotherapy and reduce potential drug side effects.
To achieve this goal, Cromoz has created a team of highly experienced and qualified molecular biologists and chemists. This multi-disciplinary team focuses their expertise in the following areas: - Research and development of methods to conjugate drugs in multi-walled water soluble carbon nano tubes and carbon quantum dots. Taxol and Gemcitabine have been successfully conjugated to carbon quantum dots.
- Conjugation of Antibodies to Carbon Quantum Dots to deliver the carbon quantum dot conjugated with cancer drug to a target site. Chemotherapy drugs are very powerful DNA disruptors and can cause serious side effects, so it is important to make sure the drugs are reaching their intended targets.
- Leverage Fluorescent capabilities of water soluble carbon nanotubes and carbon dots for Imaging. Can be used as Fluorescent Probes to monitor cancer growth. Carbon nanotubes and carbon dots “fluoresce†in near-infrared light.
